I’m fundraising to get my son autism assessment he urgently needs so he can access the support, understanding, and opportunities he deserves
Albany, Auckland
My name is Isabelle, and I'm a single student mum who works full time to my amazing 4½-year-old son, Kobe. He’s a bright, loving boy who faces daily challenges due to possible Autism and ADHD. Everyday tasks like eating, dressing, and even sleeping can be overwhelming for him due to sensory overload.
Kobe relies heavily on oral and sensory input just to stay calm — chewing dummies, his nails, or sensory necklaces are part of his daily routine. He also constantly needs something in his hands. Whether it’s play dough, a fidget toy, or even the tail of his soft toy, he cannot sit still — not on the couch, not at mat time. Without that sensory input, he becomes distressed and overstimulated.
A psychiatrist recently observed him for 90 minutes and wrote a 9-page report. She said Kobe displayed clear traits of both autism and ADHD — enough to puzzle her — and now he urgently needs a full ADOS assessment to get a clear diagnosis.
We’re trying to raise $1500, $1,050 to cover the cost of his diagnosis and the rest for his sensory toys to help him through daycare and school . A diagnosis will unlock the support Kobe desperately needs at school and beyond. Without it, he risks being overlooked. With it, he’ll finally have the tools and recognition he deserves. Every dollar helps us get closer. Thank you for helping my boy be seen, supported, and heard
