    Kookie Rehab – Week 5 Update 🤍

It's been a very wet week here, which has made fitting everything in a little more challenging, but we're still ticking along with Kookie's rehab plan and keeping things as consistent as possible.

We're continuing to see some really encouraging improvements. One thing we've noticed is that he's picking his feet up more with his polework, which has been great to see, and he's also showing some fantastic progress with his belly lifts. He's becoming more engaged and relaxed which is awesome to see. While there haven't been any huge milestones this week, the small changes are adding up, and it's those little improvements that remind us we're heading in the right direction.

    Kookie Rehab – Week 4 Update 🤍

This week has been a quieter one overall, but we’re continuing to see little improvements that make us really excited for what’s ahead.

Kookie is showing more improvement on the lunge, especially with his long and low trot work. He’s beginning to stretch down more consistently and relax into it which has been so nice to see after all the work he’s been putting in.

Other than that, we’re just ticking along with his rehab plan, staying consistent with his exercises, stretches, and making sure he’s feeling comfortable and supported every step of the way.

    Kookie Rehab – Week 3 Update 🤍

This week was definitely an interesting one.

We hit it off awesome starting his rehab & fitting him for a Equi-Band set up. However, since Friday I’ve been horribly sick stuck in bed and still trying to get back on my feet, while Kookie’s brother has also been dealing with a pretty nasty eye ulcer — so it’s been a bit of a stressful week all around.

Despite that, we’ve still hit the ground running with Kookie’s rehab and are starting to see some really encouraging progress. His last lunging session was a huge moment for us, with him finally starting to properly accept long and low at trot instead of fighting against it. Seeing him begin to relax into his work and use himself more correctly was such a rewarding feeling.

We’re still taking everything one step at a time, focusing on slow, correct progress and keeping him as comfortable and happy as possible through the process.

So proud of our sweet boy and the effort he’s putting in already

    Kookie Rehab – Week 2 Update 🤍

This week has been a big one for Kookie’s rehab journey and a very wet weather one!

We had a really lengthy and informative conversation with our physio and officially put together Stage 1 of his rehab plan which includes daily exercises and stretches — which we’ve now started working through.

He’s getting better with his stretches every session, which has been really encouraging to see! We’re learning more and more about what his body needs and taking the time to listen to him every step of the way.

We also purchased a Photizo light therapy device which is recommended as it helps aid in his recovery and rehab, and will be something to support him long-term.

On top of that, we’ve started paying off the vet bill bit by bit — thank you so much to everyone who has supported, donated, shared kind words, or simply followed along with Kookie’s journey so far. It truly means more than we can say.

Slow progress is still progress, and we’re so proud of our sweet boy for giving his all

Today marks day 5 since Kookie’s x-rays and injections, and we’re officially into the early stages of his rehab journey.

This week has been all about understanding how he’s moving and what his body is telling us. We’ve filmed him lunging to send through to our physio for analysis, and have been doing gentle stretches to start assessing his mobility and where he might be tight or uncomfortable.

Most importantly, he’s been getting all the love (as always 🤍) and today we gave him a well-deserved rest day to just relax and be a horse.

We’re taking everything slowly, focusing on doing things properly rather than rushing — building a strong, comfortable foundation for him is the priority.

One step at a time for our sweet boy
