Lauren and Lisa will be travelling to Tonga with South Pacific Animal Welfare to help provide essential veterinary care to animals in Tonga
International
Hi. We are a veterinary nurse (Lisa) and veterinarian (Lauren) who are volunteering on a veterinary trip to Tonga in October run by South Pacific Animal Welfare (SPAW, http://spaw.org.nz/) to participate in a volunteer veterinary clinic. Tonga currently has no resident qualified vets so for animals in Tonga such trips are often the only time they have the opportunity to receive much needed veterinary care. South Pacific Animal Welfare is an amazing organisation that organises several volunteer trips to Tonga each year and also trips to some other Pacific Islands to provide free veterinary care to animals. There are many animals that require veterinary care. During these volunteer veterinary clinics a range of veterinary services are provided to needy animals such as treating animals that have been hit by cars, vaccinations, desexing surgeries, treatment of sick animals and surgical procedures.
On this trip SPAW will be running a veterinary clinic on some of the Ha'apai group of islands in Tonga. This is an area that has not had a SPAW clinic in recent years and this trip is a wonderful opportunity to provide veterinary services to this region. SPAW is aiming to desex and treat 120 dogs and cats during the clinic along with providing other veterinary services.
This will be Lisa's third trip volunteering with SPAW to Tonga and Lauren's fifth trip volunteering with SPAW to Tonga. It is a privilege to be involved with this great cause and we are both enthusiastic about providing veterinary care to needy animals in Tonga.
We would appreciate any help to help with the costs of our airfares and volunteer fees that cover essentials for the trip. In the event that any extra money is raised we will use this money to donate essential supplies to SPAW.
Thank you for your support.
The money will go towards our airfares and volunteer fees (which cover essential costs for the trip). If we raise any extra money this will be spent on purchasing veterinary supplies to donate to South Pacific Animal Welfare (e.g. worm treatments)
