An Update From Leo

Because of your incredible kindness, we made it!
Thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity made it possible for Leo to attend the Global Glaucoma Patient Summit in San Francisco, where we met world-leading glaucoma specialists and connected with other families living with congenital glaucoma.
One of the highlights was meeting Dr James Brandt, who generously took the time to discuss Leo’s complex case. We came home reassured that Leo’s treatment is on the right path. Dr Brandt has also connected with Leo’s New Zealand specialists, and they will continue collaborating to ensure Leo gets the best possible treatment.
Since returning home, Leo has had the opportunity to share his journey on the Dom Harvey Podcast and in an upcoming feature in the New Zealand Herald. By sharing his story, he hopes to raise awareness of congenital glaucoma, support other families facing similar challenges.
After the summit, we were also able to create some precious family memories together at Disney.Thank you for making those moments possible.
Leo’s journey continues. He still sees his glaucoma specialist in Auckland for regular appointments and now travels to Wellington for procedures and surgery when needed. He will require cataract surgery in the future, but for now we’re grateful to be able to give him a well-earned break from surgery.
