Support for Bootten Whanau, after family man Evan suffered spinal injury in Mountain Bike fall while out riding with his children.
Rotorua, Bay Of Plenty
On Saturday 7th September Evan was out mountain biking in Rotorua with his family when he had a serious fall. He was immediately airlifted to Middlemore Hospital where it was confirmed that Evan has suffered spinal cord damage. Specialists do not have answers for what the future looks like, all we know is that, once out of Intensive Care, Evan will be needing months of treatment at Middlemore Spinal Unit and ongoing treatment at the Rehabilitation Centre in Auckland. There is no chance of being transferred to a hospital closer to home in Rotorua.
As you can imagine, this is a life changing event for Evan, his wife Olivia, and their 4 young children. They are facing spending months apart, with very little time together as a family.
Any donations given will go towards travel, accommodation, extra expenses of displacement, and support for loss of income for Olivia. This will assist Olivia to be in Auckland as much as possible to support Evan in his rehabilitation, reducing the financial pressure of her not being able to work fulltime, and providing opportunity for their children to spend as much time with Evan as they can.
Long time friend and work colleague.
