Lindsay’s fight against leukemia, aiming to cover essential treatment costs and give him more precious time with his family
Auckland
My incredible dad, Lindsay, was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, a fast-growing blood cancer where abnormal cells crowd out the healthy ones. This is the second time our family has faced this battle—my sister is thankfully in remission, but now it’s Dad’s turn to fight.
Due to his health and age, Dad isn’t eligible for intensive chemotherapy to tackle the disease. Instead, he’s chosen a gentler treatment that suppresses the cancer, allowing him more time with us. However, this new medication, Venetoclax, is unfunded and costs around $2,000 per month, and all donations will go directly toward covering this essential drug.
As a family, we’re doing everything we can to support him. Natalie has paused her work in Christchurch to be by his side, Jared has taken significant time off work, and I’m sending what I can from Australia. Dad is determined to fight this; the world is not ready to say goodbye to his witty, dark humor and compassionate demeanor. We want him to use his pension for things that bring him joy and allow him to spend quality time with his children and grandkids.
Any support, big or small, would mean the world to us and to Dad. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I am Lindsay's son.
The money raised would be spent on covering the costs of Lindsay's unfunded cancer medication Venetoclax, which is essential for suppressing his acute myeloid leukemia.
OH my gosh! Thank you so much Michael and Erica <3
