Help little Bernie, get the care he needs by supporting his vet bills during this tough time.
Queenstown, Otago
Hello,
I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but I’m reaching out for help as things have become incredibly overwhelming both emotionally & financially.
A few weeks ago, I adopted Bernie, the sweetest little pup. He’s been a ray of sunshine, gentle, loving, & full of joy. Sadly, shortly after bringing him home, Bernie became seriously unwell.
What first seemed like kennel cough quickly worsened. He’s been struggling to breathe and has needed oxygen support on and off over the past week. Vets now suspect a fungal infection or pneumonia, but we’re still waiting for a clear diagnosis.
On Friday, I had to rush Bernie to Christchurch for 24/7 emergency care. He’ll be transferred to a specialist on Monday for more tests and treatment. We’re doing everything we can, and Bernie is fighting so hard but the medical costs are quickly going beyond what my pet insurance covers.
This has been one of the hardest experiences I’ve faced for myself, my family, & especially for little Bernie. I’m staying strong for him and truly believe he can pull through with the right care.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount would mean the world. Every dollar will go directly to Bernie’s vet bills. If we’re lucky enough to raise more than we need, any extra will be donated to Wondering Angels (where I adopted Bernie) or to Queenstown cat rescue, where my other fur baby, Gary, came from.
Thank you for your love & support. Whether it’s through donations or sharing this message.
Regards,
Sarah
He is my little puppy.
All funds raised will contribute to Bernie’s vet treatment to get him better.
Bernie is home! ❤️ 12 May 2025
Bernie was lucky enough to get discharged on Thursday night. He had a trial night in Christchurch before getting the all clear to head home to Queenstown on Friday after. And has been home with me since. He got diagnosed with Eosinophilic bronchopneumopathy. He is on a steroid anti inflammatory prednisone and an inhaler (which he hates). Definitely seeing signs of improvement in him and he is slowing becoming a puppy again. I have to limit his activities and I exercise which is a little hard being a puppy. He has to go back to the vets in Queenstown this week for another check up. But all is looking better. He was at a life threatening point at one stage so it’s just so good seeing him happy again. We still have a long way to full recovery and the bills haven’t stop but we are heading in the right direction. Much love from myself and Bernie xx
