Help Lochie buy his first stethoscope before he's officially a doctor!

Lochie is wrapping up his final year of medical school in Wellington. Against all odds, and possibly better judgement, he made it through six years without a stethoscope. Most students pay $200 for one in second year. Lochie, extraordinarily, has survived through a combination of sheer grit and inconvenient borrowing (e.g., from the resus cart)

Now a Trainee Intern, the burden of clinical responsibility for Lochie has been ever-expansive and his stethoscopic deficiency is growing suspicion on the wards. He has even had to borrow his consultant's one, awkward because:

1. He does not enjoy sharing their earwax

2. They do not enjoy speaking to medical students.

This farce must be temporary. Nobody will realise he is a doctor (or worse, they may consider him an orthopod). He will not know the difference between vesicular, bronchial, or bronchovesicular sounds, or between rales, rhonchi, crackles or crepitations. He cannot simply copy findings from admission notes forever.

Unfortunately, Lochie's TI grant has dried up prematurely. If he buys a stethoscope now he will eat Weetbix for a month, with blind faith that it is a full food group. He may steal Fortisip from the wards. Your donation will help him be the safe, competent, and vaguely trustworthy doctor our health system needs. He may even pick up the polyphonic symphony of a bronchospastic child. Most importantly, it will help him eat something besides Weetbix.
