Help Luna get the surgery she needs to get her back to a normal pain free life
Auckland
Luna is a 7 year old rescue pup who I adopted when she was 7 weeks old.
Luna by name, luna"tic" by nature! Full of beans and a very active dog.
Unfortunately Luna got a bit too excited chasing one of her balls a few months ago and she skidded out doing herself a significant injury.
Luna has a bulging disc in her back. Aside from being extremely painful for her, the bulge is so significant that it is putting pressure on a nerve which has resulted in lameness in one of her back leg, causing it to slip out on her when she walks.
We have already been through the less invasive options of 3 steroid epidural injections, however they have not resulted in any improvement of pain or lameness in her leg.
The next step is surgery to trim the budging disc and stabilise her spine with a titanium plate to relieve the pressure, taking away the pain and hopefully giving her nerves the opportunity to recover and give her full mobility of her leg back.
The surgery obviously comes at a significant cost, $13,000 - $16,000 plus post surgery expenses in the form of physio and a further CT scan to make sure the plate is positioned correctly and fusing as it should. Every little dollar will help significantly and is appreciated.
It's been breaking my heart seeing Luna go from a super active bouncy (kangaroo like) dog who loves her daily walks to her being in pain and struggling to walk normally.
Help bring back Luna's quality of life so that I can have my walking and adventure buddy back.
Donations raised will go towards the cost of Luna's vet bills for her surgery and recovery.
