  • A rollercoaster week......

Not sure where to start….. oh well, let's start with the fantastic news :-)

This week Mal’s been able to finally bring his knee to his chest, and push it away again when he tells it too. 🦵 This is a huge achievement. It seems he has another “mean lady”, aka his pt assistant, who made him do it 10 x on Friday. 🎉🍾🎉

On Wednesday, well that was a shitty day with the news that the wheelchair will be sticking around a bit longer than anticipated & as they love Mal so much - he will be in the rehab ward at Middlemore for a few more weeks yet to get the more intensive physio, etc to get him as independent as possible before they boot him out. Along with the shitty news, at least came the great news that Mal has been granted good behavior leave for the weekends (and can now stay 2 nights) between now and then. 👍🏽🤗🎉

Friday brought hustle and bustle, and work on the ramp so that Mal can get inside the house (currently has a couple of mates lift the chair in & out) began. Big thanks guys- awesome progress.

The cutest moment was when Grannan arrived home with Max from daycare, and when he saw daddy in the drive his little face lit up with excitement. ❤️❤️

Again, a BUG thanks to all who are supporting in whichever way. Having no insurance that covers this makes a tough situation worse, and we appreciate every $. Its tough being in this position, but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

    Thanks, Mal & Sandy

Firstly, we would like to say a BIG heartfelt thank you to all those who are supporting us, it really makes a huge difference-both financially & emotionally.

Mal is still in the rehab ward at Middlemore hospital. His days are spent with his OT therapist, PT Therapist, etc.

The progress is super slow for a man like Mal, that never takes a sick day, and likes to get up and going asap. BUT there is progress, and he is doing so well.

Every day I can see how much stronger he is getting with his transitions from wheelchair to bed etc. Mal can also now stand in the shower for a small period of time, and this is fantastic.

While Mal's left arm is still sleeping, at least now it is waking up!!! The muscles are now flickering. Super duper exciting.

Progress with the left leg is going great guns as well, and this morning Mal could actually bed his knee up in bed.

Thank you all for your support, every $ helps take the stress off, and also means Mal can get the rehab he needs, and not worry about keeping a roof over his families heads while he's off work.

Thanks again all, We are both blown away <3
