To be able to help Mal & his family after his severe stroke.
Auckland
2 weeks ago Mal at the young age of 47 suffered a serious stroke , which came completely out of the blue for the family .
Sandy & Mal are a blended family & share 5 children together .
With Mal being the main income earner & being in hospital & no clear direction or time frame of if or when he will be able to return to work , this has taken a huge financial toll on the family , unfortunately Mal does not have any financial insurance to be able to help with his loss of income , and hence the reason for the page .
They are a truely amazing & hard working family & all funds raised will go solely to Mals loss of income so that they can continue to have a roof over their heads .
I’m a good friend of the family.
The money will be spent on financial support for the family
A rollercoaster week...... 6 March 2022
Not sure where to start….. oh well, let's start with the fantastic news :-)
This week Mal’s been able to finally bring his knee to his chest, and push it away again when he tells it too. 🦵 This is a huge achievement. It seems he has another “mean lady”, aka his pt assistant, who made him do it 10 x on Friday. 🎉🍾🎉
On Wednesday, well that was a shitty day with the news that the wheelchair will be sticking around a bit longer than anticipated & as they love Mal so much - he will be in the rehab ward at Middlemore for a few more weeks yet to get the more intensive physio, etc to get him as independent as possible before they boot him out. Along with the shitty news, at least came the great news that Mal has been granted good behavior leave for the weekends (and can now stay 2 nights) between now and then. 👍🏽🤗🎉
Friday brought hustle and bustle, and work on the ramp so that Mal can get inside the house (currently has a couple of mates lift the chair in & out) began. Big thanks guys- awesome progress.
The cutest moment was when Grannan arrived home with Max from daycare, and when he saw daddy in the drive his little face lit up with excitement. ❤️❤️
Again, a BUG thanks to all who are supporting in whichever way. Having no insurance that covers this makes a tough situation worse, and we appreciate every $. Its tough being in this position, but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Thanks, Mal & Sandy
