Help Mana Beat Lymphatic Cancer

  • Remission!

      22 October 2019

Tēnā koe me ngā tini āhuatanga o te wā.

It has been over 8 months since I started chemotherapy for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Now that all the dust has settled I wanted to write to you and thank you very much for your support over this time. As I’ve said over and over again I was able to be positive and strong in my approach to the treatment all thanks to you and I truly believe that made a huge difference in the fight.

My family and I are forever grateful and conscious of how lucky we are to have such a large giving and loving whānau and community of friends and friends of friends. It still to this day continually blows my mind!

As many of you know but some may not, I was able to complete treatment and achieve remission. This is a massive step and from here I will be having regular check ups to track my health, but otherwise all good news!

Thank you again for your contribution. We couldn’t have got to this point without you.

This experience was literally life changing, and I can happily say for the better now. I owe a lot of this to you guys.

Thanks heaps from me, but also from Gail, Ian, Lior, Ahi, Paul (& Mino)

    Chur xx

  • Message from Mana

      1 July 2019

Firstly, this is my first time getting my message across to you all and this won’t go even a fraction of the way in achieving the thanks I want to convey.

Well…. It’s been a crazy roller coaster the past 6 months, that’s for sure! I firstly want to say I am extremely humbled by the response to this whole situation on this page and can’t thank everyone enough, from people I’ve known my whole life to people I’ve never met! Literally do not have the words to express the gratitude I feel. The messages on this page, particularly through the initial stages of diagnosis kept a smile on my dial even in the darkest of times. I regularly read them, and I can honestly say I’ve maintained a super positive attitude through this whole thing and this was helped hugely by you guys. I’m fighting the fight with intention and I feel like I’m winning.

I’m happy to say I’ve managed to catch up with a lot of you throughout the last 6 months and look forward to catching up with the rest of you, I am going to try to do so even if it’s just to give me the opportunity to thank you all in person.

So, about a month and a half ago I got my midway scans. I can happily say the scans showed that my lymph nodes had responded to treatment and had decreased in size. This is a huge step in the right direction. Since then, I finished chemotherapy on the 27th of May, and have continued with brentuximab treatment. Today (Monday 1st of July) is the day that I complete the brentuximab. At the end of July, I get my final scan to see how effective treatment has been.

So, if you’ve got a spare hand, keep your fingers crossed, and keep those positive vibes coming (they seem to be working) and hopefully we will be getting news of remission early August.

    Much love,

    Mana x

  • Update on Mana

      13 May 2019

We wanted to say a big thank you for your kind donation. We are so grateful and truly blown away by the support. Mana has really appreciated all the messages of encouragement.

We held a fundraising auction last month. Again, people were very generous. It was a brilliant night, encouraging and heartwarming. All auction items sold for well above what we had hoped for and we managed to raise over $60,000!

As a result of both fundraising streams and thanks to you, $75,550 has been paid directly to the provider for 2 Brentuximab treatments. It will also be able to contribute significantly to the next round.

    All our love.
