Help get Matt Jones to the 2018 World Youth Climbing Championships in Moscow, Russia!
Nationwide
Hi, my name is Matt Jones, I'm 16, and my life revolves around Rock Climbing.
I've been climbing for around 5 years, and fell in love with the sport when I first started competing nationally back in 2015. Winning my first National Championships that same year solidified my passion for the sport, motivating me to strive towards the goal of being selected for the New Zealand Youth Climbing Team.
This year, my dream was realised as I have been selected to represent New Zealand at the Youth World Championships, to be held in Moscow, Russia, in August this year. I'm absolutely stoked with this opportunity, as it will give me the chance to not only represent my country, but also to meet some truly rad people and climb alongside athletes that I have looked up to since I first started climbing!
I'm very dedicated to training for this event - I train six days a week, in the school gym, in the local climbing gym, and at home, as well as traveling to around the country to attend training camps with the rest of the team.
Climbing, while an amazing sport, is not a very well recognised one, and receives very little if any funding - thats why I need your help to allow me to achieve my goal.
Any donations would be well received, even the small ones, as every contribution would get me a little bit closer to my goal.
As Matt is unable to raise funds on his own account (being too young), I am using this account on his behalf.
I will be grateful for any donations, which will go towards travel, food, accommodation, and access to training facilities on the trip. Any surplus funds will go towards training camps, equipment, and coaching, as well as helping out my other teammates.
