Help me battle recurrent Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade 4

  • Final update

      13 January 2020

Given that this page is due to close in a weeks time I just wanted to thank everyone that has contributed towards this. I have been fortunate so far in that all 3 tumors have been operable to date and we have been able to hold off starting the Avastin so far. We were originally told the last tumor was inoperable, however after further discussions they decided to give it a go and removed all physical signs of the tumor. It is comforting to know that we now still have that tool (Avastin) in the toolbox to use when needed.

I have had to give up working which was not a comfortable decision to make. Just before Christmas I completed a 3rd round of radiation and am now just waiting for another MRI so fingers crossed.

    Hi everyone.

Unfortunately my last MRI has shown up a new lesion which is non operable due to its location. I'm also not able to have anymore radiation. The next move is for us to use a combination of chemotherapy and Avastin.

Jo and I are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to this page which has helped put us in the position start almost straight away. I will be having to give up working now due to wanting to put 100% into focusing on my health and my family. Extremely tough call to make when I have always worked hard and taken pride in what I have achieved over my working career.

I look forward to starting on this next lot of treatment and giving it everything I can.

    Thanks again.

  • Surgery update

      9 February 2019

Hi all. Just a quick update to let you know that I got in for surgery last Thursday. It went as well as we could of hoped for. I have regained the use of my right leg again! We are now in the waiting process to firstly see what it was they removed and how much. From this they will formulate the treatment plan which will start after a 6 week wait period post surgery. Bring it on!

Thank you to everyone again that has contributed to this page. Our family is blown away by the generosity of you all.

Any funds that go over the goal we put in place will be very helpful with day to day expenses given that I'm the primary income earner and the ability to carry that on for much longer is being severely impacted.

  • Thank you

      23 January 2019

I doesn't seem fitting to say thank you like this but to be fair its all I feel I can do at the moment. The support from everyone has been truly humbling and these words don't really do it justice. I would never in my wildest dreams thought that we would get this much support. I hope amongst the issues we are dealing with as a family that there is more awareness out there now of the impact of brain cancer on families - both physically and mentally/emotionally. I'm waiting for a surgery date which will hopefully be in the next few weeks and will endeavour to keep you all updated. Thank you again, Brett and family.
