Help Caela fund for a CGM for type 1 diabetes
Bay of Plenty
I have been battling to highs and lows of being a type 1 diabetic for almost 20 years. keeping blood sugars in range and getting them to a level of safety for my body has been a tremendous challenge for me for the past few years. CGMs do not come cheap, but they are a vital part of the diabetes technology world. they will help me by alerting me well before my blood sugars drop or go too high so I can act to keep things a stable level.
With the CGM my family will be able to view my sugars as well and get alarms with my blood sugars have dropped to a dangerous level that could cause unconsciousness as in the past I have had lows that have happened so fast I lose consciousness. so they would be able to come and check on me if this happens, these are truly life saving devices that are unfortunately not funded in New Zealand.
I am starting study and work which will be stressful as it is with living with diabetes and having to prick your finger 4-6 times a day. if I am able to get a few donations you will be helping me in my journey of stabilising my blood sugars with a CGM where I just need to scan it with my phone to get a result and so much more these will also help me watch and control my blood sugar levels so much better so I can qualify for a government funded insulin pump and have better control in my life as life gets busy this will help me be able to carry on a busy life and monitor my diabetes much easier.
The funds will be spent on Dexcom G6 for three months worth of sensors. this is supplied by NZMS diabetes.
