Support my journey as a paramedic student attending an international EMS training tour in Texas to bring new skills back to NZ
Wellington
Kia ora,
My name is Annalise and I am a third-year Paramedicine student at Whitireia in Wellington NZ. I currently work part-time as a Patient Transfer Officer with Wellington Free Ambulance.
I have recently been selected for the Australia EMS International Paramedic Professional Development Tour in Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas (June–July 2026). I am honoured to be one of only 20 paramedic students from New Zealand and Australia chosen for this opportunity.
This program provides valuable hands-on exposure to a different EMS system and real-world emergency care. Experiences like this help develop clinical judgement, decision-making, and adaptability in high-pressure environments. My goal is to become the best paramedic I can be for the communities I will serve in New Zealand.
During the tour I will complete eight 12-hour ride-along shifts with paramedics in the Dallas–Fort Worth EMS system—one of the busiest in the United States. I will also learn from senior EMS leaders and Medical Directors, visit a live 911 communications centre, and observe rescue helicopter and fire-paramedic operations.
This opportunity is entirely self-funded. The AustraliaEMS program fee is A$5,950 (approx. $7,200 NZD), with flights and travel insurance estimated at $6,300 NZD, plus accommodation, food, and daily expenses while in the USA.
Any support—big or small—would mean a lot. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would also help immensely.
Ngā mihi,
Annalise
Funds raised will go toward covering the essential program costs first, ensuring I can participate fully in the clinical and educational aspects of the tour. Funds raised will also go towards insurance, accommodation, food, and daily expenses.
Thank you for your help so far! 6 April 2026
Thank you everyone for your contributions so far!
I raised just under $1000 at Armageddon over Easter weekend selling lolly bags which was amazing to see the support from everyone!
Just wanted to add a note that any contribution you make will be made directly to me to fund this trip and associated costs. No part of your contribution will be directly donated to Wellington Free Ambulance
