A falling tree destroyed my uninsured van — my transport, campervan, and business vehicle — and I’m seeking help to get back on the road.
Warkworth, Auckland
As the turbulent weather is affecting many of us, on Monday night it was my turn to take a hit.
While driving along Sandspit Road just outside Warkworth, my van was struck by a falling tree. The impact smashed the windscreen, dented multiple panels, broke the indicators, and cracked a hole in the roof. I was incredibly lucky to walk away without injury.
Unfortunately, this van was not just a business vehicle. It was also my office, my bedroom, and my only means of transport. My campervan enabled me to start my business in the first place — transporting fermenting tanks, hundreds of kilograms of fruit, and travelling to markets to sell my handcrafted fruit wines.
While operating on a very tight budget and living as frugally as possible to make this passion-driven business work, I overlooked adequately insuring my workhorse — a mistake that now leaves me facing the full cost of replacing it.
Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, would help me get back on the road and continue building the work I’ve poured so much into.
To finance and fit out a replacement van, to enable me to continue building my passion business.
