Help me get my car back

  • Nearly there

      1 February 2025

The insurance company has been very difficult to deal with. My worst experience to date.

Anyway you all gave me enough money to cover the excess which is great, thank you so much!

It turns out that I have to pay for my entire year's premium which is another $1400 but that gets taken out of the settlement. So I still have to pay off $1400 of my loan. But! The lender convinced me to take out something called GAP insurance (which is insurance for if your insurance doesn't cover everythiing - so insurance on your insurance). It was only $2 extra a month so I thought why not and it has saved my bacon!

Thank you again kind friends, I love you all. I hope I can return the favour soon.

The car has been recovered but is in a police yard whilst the insurer "investigates" further. I don't see how this is a write-off but you can't argue with these people.

  • Thank you / Current situ

Hey everyone, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for helping out.

The insurance company is delaying the payout because they "our internal investigations team need to review the circumstances around the theft of your vehicle".

I am not sure what that means. It's an open and shut case so I am guessing this is just them delaying on purpose. I am told that most claims take a minimum 4 weeks to complete. So I could be twiddling my thumbs for a bit longer.
