Wellington

Hey there, I'm Alexa Lee. In 2020, I will be going on an ecology trip to Dominica. This trip is under the name of an organisation called Operation Wallacea, who is a biological research association looking into remote locations who are in need of environmental protection and attention across the globe.

I want to go because I love ecology, because it is a subject that integrates with how various species are affected by each other, and how climate change can affect them as well. Dominica is a small island in the Caribbean, which has a very rich, unique and diverse ecosystem. But it is still fragile from hurricane Maria in 2017 and is still in need of conservation. Thus, OpWall has sought Dominica for that purpose. However, I'm over there to only research them to see how they are affected first, and then to see how mankind can help them out afterwards.

I have signed up to go, but the trip is about $7,000 NZD, which is a lot of money. My parents agreed to pay for half the expenses, as long as I can raise money for the other half of $3,500. I will need your help in raising that money.

Use of funds

The money will be spent on my half of the ecology trip's expenses, and anything extra will go towards my savings for my university tuition, which will probably be at Otago University
