Update #1
26 December 2023Firstly I would like to say thankyou to everyone who has donated to my page! Your support exceeded every expectation I had and im so grateful that other people believe in my dream!
In the past couple months I have been trying to make friends in the right places in order to learn about what I need to get into Karting and possible ways I can make starting easier from a financial aspect.
On the fundraiser page I noted that all equipment prices were just estimations and that the $15,000 goal may not be a true representation of the amount I needed to start karting. I have found that a lot of the things I previously thought you had to buy, can be cheaper to loan or rent and some items such as the helmet are a bit more expensive than I anticipated ($350-$3000), but either way, I will try and find the best deals without failing to consider the quality of the item. In other words I will try and get the best bang for my buck.
In other news I have been invited to the competitive karting league at Brewtown in Upperhutt. It is a small indoor rental track that runs a competitive league fortnightly for racers theyve spotted during regular hours who have done exceptionally in terms of pace and consistency. The league at Brewtown is more relaxed than KartSport Wellington, allowing plain clothes and everything is borrowed, just like regular gokarts. But it is certainly a step in the right direction and gives me a chance to have some experience before I can afford to join the club.
