Supporting my niece at the Rugby World Cup 2025, following the footsteps of my ancestors - it’s never too late to dream, believe and begin.
Auckland
Kia ora whānau and friends,
I need your support!!!
✨ I’m fundraising.
✨ I’m dreaming.
✨ I’m believing.
I am on a mission and will Run. Walk. Crawl. (RWC) to help me get to England in 2025 to support our Black Ferns at the Rugby World Cup!
I’ve already done a 5km run after years of being at my heaviest and not exercising at all and then.....I hit a wall of 'self doubt' and lacked a bit of faith in myself… oh yeah and I got something I need spell check for: plantar fasciitis (in BOTH heels 😩 — after pretending I’m an elite touch player).
I’m fundraising to:
1. Support my niece playing for the Black Ferns at RWC 2025 in England and tick off a lifelong dream to travel to where I whakapapa to.
2. Walk the whenua of my ancestors. I wasn’t raised growing up with either side of my extended whānau. I have never met my Māori birth father and have often at times felt displaced walking on my own whenua. Ko Māori ahau. Ko Pākehā ahau.
3. Encourage the next generation of rangatahi.
To the young person sitting in your room wondering if anyone sees or hears you… wondering if your voice matters… too scared to dream for fear of being knocked down — I see you. You matter.
And I believe in who you are right now and who you’re becoming.
If this old girl in her late 40s can still dream, believe, be hopeful and have courage — you can too!
Ngā mihi nui – your favourite aunty is on a mission, and I need your help to make it happen!
With love and laughter,
#AuntyMaus
