Help me protect my late mother's wishes.

  • The ball is rolling.

      3 March 2026

Now that thing's are settling down after the Christmas and new year period, we have had time to regroup with lawyers and finally make some headway.

Counter offers for negotiations should be in by the end of next week, and we are feeling optimistic that some sort of agreement can be made. Of course this adds to the fee's, but it can't be avoided. The current estimate for my next bill is sitting at $2,300 (incl GST).

On the executors side of things, we were quoted for a $6,000 retainer. But have opted to put actions on hold until we know whether or not an agreement can be made through negotiations.

Fingers crossed all parties can come together and make a reasonable resolution.

  • Thank you ❤️

      1 December 2025

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has donated and shared so far. The outpouring love and support I have recieved has been nothing short of incredible. I would also ask that you share the link to this page with your friends, family and/or community to help give us our best fighting chance.

The ball is rolling to begin the process of me retiring as an executor now. While I made the decision to step back as a sign of good faith, the process it's self has my anxiety on high alert. Of course I have faith that the remaining two executors will do an outstanding job acting on my mother's behalf, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of panic now with any and all legal matters. And it breaks my heart that this entire experience has left me feeling like my whole life is on a knifes edge, broken and afraid.

Only having to deal with my own lawyer going forward will, of course, help my own mental health and wellbeing. I am however dreading receiving my first bill - which I expect any day now.

Next weekend a few of my mother's nearest and dearest are gathering for brunch at a beach spot near by - one mum and I explored and hunted for seaglass and other treasures, just to take some time to remember and reflect upon her.

  • Cutting costs where we can.

      20 November 2025

Today I cancelled the last of.my subscriptions. Even though it saves less than $20 a month, every bit counts. It was bitter sweet, sacrificing some of the small things that bring joy in an otherwise stressful time, but priorities are important, and I need to give myself the best chance of making it out the other side in a sustainable position.

I also met with the lawyers representing us as executors to the will today, and they've given me some information to chew over, and depending on my decision it'll impact my mental health in a positive way.
