The road to the Oceania champs
Napier, Hawke's Bay
Hi all, my name is Rylan Noomé. From the age of 5 all the way up until I was a year 12 in high school I played rugby. Being a flanker for 10 years when I swapped to winger it was a lot different as I started to become faster and faster when I eventually took up athletics.
In my first year of athletics in 2022 I was selected for the Oceania championship (this same event 2 years ago) were I scored bronze in the 200m and silver in the 4x100m relay that same year I won the 200m title and 4x100m relay at the nzssaa champs. In 2023 I doubled at the NZ national champs winning the 100m and 200m title equaling the NZ 100m un17 record. Again that year I won the nzssaa 200m title with a record breaking time of 21.28 unfortunately the wind was too high so it was not offical.
Representing NZ at the Oceania champs would significantly enhance my knowledge of the sport I now love and will forever be dedicated too. It would also give me the opportunity to run with the big guys and be around the amazing talent at which Oceania has to offer that will add on to the experience I’ll need to compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The money will spent on plane tickets and accommodation towards the Oceania athletics champs.
