I am looking for help to get to the World Rowing Championships in Canada this August.
Mount Albert, Auckland
My name is Olivia Tattersfield and I’m 17 years old. I am from Whangarei but currently boarding at Mount Albert Grammar School, Auckland. I’ve recently been selected in the New Zealand Under 19 rowing team where I will be competing in the quad at the World Rowing Championships in Canada, August 2024.
I absolutely love rowing and have been incredibly fortunate to have had amazing support from the coaches and parent volunteers from both the Whangarei Rowing Club and Mt Albert Grammar (MAGSROW). I’ve also been fortunate to have some awesome friends to train and row with. My best rowing performance to date was winning the U17 single at the NZ Secondary School Championships. I’ve included a video of this race, it was pretty intense, so enjoy watching!
Since being selected for the U19 team at the end of April, I’ve continued to train really hard. Shortly I’ll move away from home and school to start a 6 week training camp at Lake Karapiro while completing school work online. At the beginning of August, I’ll head to Canada for 3 more weeks of training before the regatta starts.
The total cost for the training camp and attending the World Championships is $10,800. This includes food and accommodation at Karapiro and travel, food, accommodation and regatta related expenses in Canada.
Any donations towards the cost of getting me to Canada would be hugely appreciated.
Olivia is my daughter. As she is only 17 years old I am required to set this up on her behalf.
The total cost of the trip to Canada is $10,800, which includes a 6 week training camp at Karapiro. The money will be spent on food, accommodation and travel costs to Canada as well as at Karapiro.
World Champs Update 25 August 2024
The racing has quite gone they way we would have hoped. We didn't make the A final after two races. We're pumped for the B final tomorrow (10:25 am Toronto time). Thanks again for your support.
