Caleb Johns - Selected for NZ Indoor Netball to compete in South Africa—self‑funded and chasing a dream
New Plymouth, Taranaki
Hi, my name is Caleb, and sport has been a huge part of my life since I was five years old. Experiences in competitive sport shaped who I am today and instilled a lifelong passion for sport, teamwork, and representing something bigger than myself.
Like many people, life took me in other directions. But more recently, at the age of 37, I returned to the sporting world now playing basketball and indoor netball.
I have recently been given the tremendous honour of being selected to representing my country at the Tri Nations Indoor Netball Series in South Africa this 15-22 August 2026 . https://www.facebook.com/IndoorNetballNewZealand
This opportunity is something I am incredibly proud of and grateful for. Wearing the silver fern is a dream come true.
Indoor netball is a minority sport in New Zealand, and unfortunately, this means international representation is completely self‑funded. All expenses must be covered by the players.
I currently work as an apprentice electrician at TEL (Taranaki Electronics Limited), and I am extremely grateful for the support of my employer, Peter Walsh, who has been very encouraging of this opportunity. Despite contributing as much as I can personally, the total cost of international travel and competition is significant, which is why I am reaching out to my community for support.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page and cheering me on means just as much.
My goal is to raise $10,000 to help cover training camps, flights, accommodation, tournament fees, uniforms, and essential travel costs. Any contribution, big or small, will help me proudly represent New Zealand on the international stage.
Thanking you!!..Much Love!
Thank you Amanda..appreciate your support!! :)
