Hey everyone, so in a little over 3 hours I commence my journey to the USA and the Etanercept treatment.

Thank you every single, beautiful one of you for caring about me. Your support has helped me get an appointment booked for Etanercept in Florida on February 2, 2024. This means so much to me personally and to my recovery, that people care this much about me. I am going to keep a video diary of the trip and it will also be the last chapter of my memoir "That Time I Had A Stroke".
You are now a tangible part of my recovery and I can't Thank You enough.

Since the last update I have continued to research this focussing mainly on double and triple blind studies conducted in New Zealand and Australia. I have also communicated with the researchers themselves. I want to make sure I am making the most informed decision I can.
What I have learned is that patients who received etanercept injections had an immediate reduction in post-stroke nerve pain and spasticity and most also experienced increased movement in previously affected limbs. There was also significant lifting of brain fog and fatigue. These studies show that the drug does have a positive outcome for most people. The best results are achieved if the patient had an ischemic stroke and has mild deficits. I fall into that category.
While this is very encouraging, I am not expecting a miracle healing, I am hoping for the brain fog and fatigue to be lifted and some increased mobility so I can move further ahead in my rehab. I have no rose tinted glasses on about this.
I have my phone consultation with the Doctor in Florida on the 5th of October and hopefully will be given a date for my treatment.

Here's a quick update on what's been happening, so I'm very fatigued today, but I wanted to share my news.
Stage 2 of my Perispinal Etanercept application is proceeding with a phone consultation costing US$1000!!! That's on October 5. If it goes well I will have a date for the procedure.
A number of people have asked me why I am doing this. Well, i need to know in my heart that I have tried everything I can to recover from this. I have also been asked about possible side effects. The worst is a reactivation of Hep B or Tuberculosis. Neither if which I have had. I have reviewed studies conducted in Australia and New Zealand and the most change is from people who have had an ischemic stroke (I have) and mild disability (I also have). The most common noticeable change is lifting of brain fog, fatigue and nerve pain.
Bring it on!
