Help Mel and her family raise funds for much needed Keytruda treatment

    I am so sorry to let you all know that Mel passed away peacefully and surrounded by friends and family on Friday 31 May.

    Unfortunately the Keytruda stopped working earlier this year and she went downhill fast.

    She was so humbled and thankful to all of you for your generous donations that enabled her to get those extra precious months of quality time with her boys.

      Really sad, can you advise when the funeral is - day and time so that we can attend. We have to travel down from Northland so need to make arrangements to stay in Auckland.

      The funeral is going to be on Wednesday at 1pm at a church on Mount Albert Road. Details in tomorrow’s paper.

      DEATH NOTICE IN HERALD

      OAKES-LOBIN, Melissa Marie (Mel). Born December 02, 1969. Passed away peacefully on May 31, 2019 surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle. Much loved wife of Martin, adored and special Mum to Theo and Eli. Loved daughter to Peter and Barbara and Brian, sister and sister in law to Brett and Helen, Ulrika and Monica, and amazing friend to many. A celebration of Mel's life wil be held at 1.30pm on Wednesday June 5, at the Mt Albert Presbyterian Church, 14 Mt Albert Road, Mt Albert. Melissa would love you to forage in your garden and bring to the service a flower or foliage to add to her vases. All enquiries phone Jill, Findlay Funerals, 021361572.

  • It's Working!!!

    Fantastic news!! I been told my Keytruda treatment is working!!

    After just 2 rounds the lung tumor is shrinking and the tumors in my bones are disappearing. It feels like I have been given a 2nd chance...

    What a roller coaster ride this cancer journey is but now I have hope.

    Just let me say a BIG thank you to you all for your amazing support. I am so grateful to each and everyone of you for helping me fund this miracle drug that is keeping me alive right now. From my lovely customers from the shop, who I miss dearly, to my family, aunties and cousins and amazing friends and neighbors.

    We still have a long way to go to get to $100,000 (we are currently up to $35k) so please continue to share this in any way you can as all the donations no matter how big or small help.

    I just want to say a big thank you for all of the lovely words and overwhelming generosity for all of the donations that we have received so far. This is such a big help towards the fundraising of Keytruda which I will be starting this coming Tuesday in conjunction with chemo. Each Round costs $9,000 and be administered every 3 weeks. This is crazy money so with the money raised so far we can start and have enough to pay for 3 rounds. Just blows me away the amazing support and love from family, friends and this incredibly generous community that I live in. You don't realise how much your support of this page will do for our family. We will keep you updated on the progress. Love Melxxxxx
