Support Michael Moffitt's cancer battle

$4,010 donated
Given by 44 generous donors in 7 weeks

This page has been set up at the suggestion of people who care about Mike, and want to acknowledge their care and concern for Mike.

Nationwide

Our amazing brother Michael Moffitt, was given devastating news recently when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had spread to his liver. The news got worse when doctors confirmed there is nothing further they can do to help and Mike will soon lose this battle.

We know that Michael is well-known and well-loved and many people who know Michael are asking how they can support him.

Please share this page with others who may know Michael and wish to help.

Any support big or small is so appreciated.

Use of funds

The money raised will go towards giving Mike the best last few weeks and ultimately the best send off we can possibly give him. Any remaining donations will be given to Hospice, along with a generous donation from the family. Hospice have helped Mike so much in his wish to be at home instead of at a hospital and are largely donation dependent.

Use of donations  30 December 2022

Hi everyone, we want to share what Mike's wishes were for the kind donations given. We put the money towards a cricket trophy for Te Atatu cricket club for best performing left hander, this will be Mike's legacy for his beloved club and sport. We will be proud to be present for the inaugural winner. There was also a donation towards the "after match event" as per Mike's wishes. Money on the bar at the Lincoln green for us all to toast a drink (or two) to Mike after his funeral on the 7th December (thanks to Niall who also contributed). Then we also donated a significant amount to Waipuna hospice who made Mike's last few days the most magnificently comfortable and well cared for as can be. They also allowed his beloved daughter, girlfriend and sister to be by his side every second of his last few days and they cared for us as well as they cared for him. Hugs were given generously, doctors advice valuable, and patience as we loudly sang Sweet Caroline as we sat beside him after he passed. Bless you all for all your kindness. I wish us all to be surrounded by the love, care and respect that Mike was in his passing xxxx

Just heard Mike passed away, i spent many mornings have a coffee with him and exploring the depths of his knowledge on industry which i found to be amazing. A really smart guy and i learned a few things. Struck me as a really genuine person which is now very rare in NZ. I wish i could contribute more...
