He has been diagnosed with a severe overbite of 10mm, while the normal range is around 3–4mm. This condition doesn’t just affect his appearance—it impacts his ability to chew, speak, and feel confident. It’s a daily challenge for him, physically and emotionally.

To correct this, he needs specialist orthodontic treatment starting with twin block appliances (to guide jaw growth) followed by a full course of braces. This is a 3–4 year treatment plan that must happen during his growth phase—ideally between the ages of 12 and 17—while his bones are still developing. Since he is now 14, time is running out to begin treatment and get the best results.

We’ve been told by specialists that the full cost of treatment will be between $10,000 and $11,000 NZD, and unfortunately, this is not publicly funded in New Zealand, even though it's medically necessary.
