Help my cat who broke his leg

My lovely cat salem limped home yesterday morning. Dragged himself upstairs to my flatmates room. My flatmate got woken up by Salem howling in his door way. After leaving work and making way way with him to the vet I was told he has broken his left leg in multiple places.After consulting the vet he believes he has been hit by a car in our area. Salem went in for surgery last night and had a plate and screws put in to heal the bone back together. The cost of this is a whopping 3000. As a person trying to get ahead but with debt already this is an expense that will set me back a long time. I have had to get a credit card to pay for this which adds to the payments I make every week.

The option of putting him down seemed smarter financially however lifting him into the cat cage and seeing him look up at me in pain with his big eyes I couldn't do it.

Salem is 1 1/2 years old but is a part of our family who my partner and I would miss so much. If anyone can help just even a little that would mean the world.
