Give Willow who has cerebal palsy a shot at living a normal life
Ohauiti, Bay of Plenty
Willow is a 2 and a half year old who suffered a brain injury at birth and as a result has quadriplegic dyskinetic cerebral palsy. With this comes it challenges, Willow cannot yet crawl, walk independently, she has a walking frame that she uses and struggles with her hand function and doing everyday tasks that she should be able to do with ease. We do fortnightly physio, OT and speech therapy as this is what is funded however, there is so much research and evidence to support intensive therapies.
what is an intensive therapy you may ask its a length of time be a week or up to 4 weeks of intense therapy everyday to push the boundaries and develop new neurological pathways in the brain to teach the brain that it can recruit other areas to take over the role of the damaged part. This is called neuroplacistiy. We have an awesome opportunity to do 3 weeks of therapy with The centre of Movement clinic from Australia who are coming to Rotorua New Zealand for 3 weeks of therapy this is there first time coming and are a well researched and sought after clinic to hel improve outcomes for kids like Willow.
I am a solo mum to Willow and am just trying to do my best for my wee girl who needs all the support in the world to have a chance at a normal life and doing these intensive therapies gives her exactly that! I would appreciate anything that you could donate and please reach out of you'd like to know more about it. From a very greatful mum
