Unexpected vet bills have added up quickly, Wilbur’s treatment and surgery costs have now reached around $6,000. Any help is appreciated 💛
Wellington
My gorgeous little mate Wilbur has had a brutal few weeks.
After multiple emergency vet visits for urinary blockages, he ended up needing major surgery — a Perineal Urethrostomy. Poor bloke is still emotionally processing the fact that his “man bits” have essentially been redesigned 😂
The reality is this: male cats can die from urinary blockages very quickly. Wilbur has bladder crystals, and because male cats have such narrow urethras, the crystals repeatedly blocked him from being able to wee. It was painful, dangerous, and terrifying to watch.
There wasn’t really a “wait and see” option. He needed treatment.
Through all of it, he has been unbelievably sweet. No drama, no aggression — just cuddles, purring, and wanting to stay close to me while recovering.
The surgery and lifelong prescription diet should now give him a real chance at a normal, healthy life again.
Truthfully, asking for help like this makes me uncomfortable. I’m nearly 70, my finances are limited, and I usually prefer being the person helping others rather than needing help myself. But I also know many people understand what it’s like to love an animal deeply and do whatever you can for them.
So this is me swallowing my pride a little and asking.
If enough people gave even a very small amount, it would make a huge difference and help take some pressure off financially. And if you can’t donate, sharing the page helps too.
Wilbur and I are both incredibly grateful 💛
All funds raised will go towards Vet bills for Wilburs operation and treatment.
