Help Nataly from Chile, living in NZ, get a brain MRI and medical care after a life-changing blood clot.
Queenstown, Otago
My name is Nataly, I’m from Chile and have been living in New Zealand for over three years.
On June 28th, while at work, I suddenly suffered a severe headache, vomiting, and loss of control. I was later diagnosed with a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (a blood clot in my brain), caused by birth control pills prescribed here. I spent several days between Queenstown and Dunedin hospitals before being discharged.
Since then, I’ve been fighting to recover without any financial or medical support, as ACC (the New Zealand injury agency) is still “investigating” my case. They first took 4 months to decide and now have requested 5 more months of extension.
I’ve learned to walk again and manage my recovery by myself, but I still suffer from headaches, weakness, and PTSD from what happened. My mental health has deteriorated, and I urgently need a specialised brain MRI and a private neurology consultation to understand how my condition is progressing and whether it’s safe for me to travel or return to work.
Any contribution, big or small, will help me access proper medical care and bring me closer to peace of mind. Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting me through this journey. 💛
Funds will cover MRI brain scan, private neurology consultation, medication, and living expenses during medical recovery
