Help needed for unexpected hospital bill

We are in desperate need of help to cover the costs of my mother in law's surgery and hospital stay

After 14 years my mother in law has finally been able to meet 4 of her grandchildren for the very first time

We have been waiting so long to finally get her visiting us here in New Zealand that as soon as the visitor visa was accepted I booked her flights here.

We all thought she was in good health and I was not able to set up health insurance before she got here.

However when she got here, we had a look at a sore on her foot so we took her to the doctor, who immediately diagnosed her with a very infected ulcer, diabetes, high blood pressure and failing kidneys.

Only 2 weeks went by before she was rushed to the hospital with acute appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery, which ended up also becoming an open surgery due to previous scar tissue.

We have been trying our best to absorb the costs of blood tests, and doctors visits already, and we have ended up using all money we had in savings, but the emergency surgery is something we are unfortunately completely unable to absorb, as we are on one income, and have 6 people in our house, some with severe allergies also.

I have been trying to sell my crochet items as a fundraiser with little luck unfortunately.

I am at a loss on what else to do so I ask, please if anyone is able to help please we would greatly appreciate it!
