Remaining funds from the page will be paid to Teina's partner Jayden McVey
Jayden and family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped ease the burden of the past year.
To her friends, colleagues, neighbours and wider community who have wrapped around the family to support them during this difficult time, please know that your love and support has been immeasurable and has made everything a little easier to bear.
A thank you to the incredible staff at Te Omanga Hospice and to her medical team who were able to support a successful application of some funded rounds of Keytruda.
All remaining donations will be used towards an education fund for Arty and Dani to continue their love of education just as Teina educated, inspired and guided so many young people in her years of teaching.
All the remaining funds from the page will now be paid to Jayden.
Thank you for the continued support over the next we while as Jayden, Arty and Dani learn to move forward without their beloved wife and mum.
Dear Jayden, Arty, and Dani,
You don't know me but I am a member of the Upper Hutt Uniting Parish, when Teina's dad was minister, and my daughter played football with Teina a few years ago.
My deepest sympathy to you and your wider family. Such a beautiful, young life taken...just not fair.
Please pass on my love to Teina's mum...I seem to remember Nio died some time ago. (Forgive me if this is not correct, Nio)
Loving thoughts,
Marilyn Olds
What an incredible evening with a full house, incredible prizes, fun and hilarity and some tough questions ensuring teams had to really work hard to vie for the title of champion team. A huge thank you to the teams who participated, the 65 generous sponsors, St Joseph's Upper Hutt staff, students and whānau, and the wider community who have shared and supported this event. Close to $19 000 was raised for Teina. This would not have been possible without the incredible organisation of this evening by Kylie. Thank you again to everyone for your generosity and support xo
Do you want a chance to relive the 90s and support Teina all for $10?! Check out this awesome event organised by her amazing colleagues. Book a seat or a table. Please share widely. There are some awesome prizes up for grabs!
Kia ora e te whānau,
From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you to you all for the love and support. My family and I have been absolutely blown away by people near and far supporting us as we navigate this thing. My heart is full and while the cancer might be trying to have its way in my body, pages like this prove it has no place in my heart and mind.
Yesterday was a great day - I started KEYTRUDA and we sent an eviction notice to this cancer, something that wouldn’t have been possible if wasn’t for all you amazing humans.
The other reason that yesterday was amazing? My bad ass Dr wrote to PHARMAC for a special exemption to the funding and yesterday they replied. By some miracle that they have approved the funding of 4 rounds. This is not something they normally do and was a complete surprise to us all.
The fight is still on. We don’t know what the future will hold, but what we do know is we have an absolute army of love behind us.
We are so humbled and grateful for the immense generosity from family, friends and people we haven’t even met.
Arohanui,
Teina, Jayden, Arty and Daniela xo
So happy to get this update Teina. I can’t believe they are funding four rounds of Keytruda, that’s the best news. My Prayers and thoughts are with you daily Teina and I know your positive attitude will get you through this incredibly hard time. Have faith, surround yourself with positivity and just know we are all praying and manifesting a positive outcome. We all have so much love for you Teina, you truly are a special person. Kia Kaha girl! ♥️
