lodge a complaint with the nz insurance ombudsman. we had to when allianz failed to pay for a medical event in usa, and they tried to say it was pre existing and it wasnt. went to nz insurance ombudsman and they gave allianz 7 days to sort out. allianz used delaying tactics asking for the same info 4 times, they failed to pay half our costs saying i could have still gone on holiday while my husband was in hospital.

May I ask if Nicole had known she had FVL before traveling and if she had declared it? If she had not known or did and declared it she has a very strong case to take to the insurance ombudsman. Insurers cannot deny cover for unknown conditions at the time of signing up for the cover.
