Help Nikki Montgomery Delete Cancer For Good!

My good friend Nikki is going through treatment for ovarian cancer.

She has a very rare and aggressive clear cell carcinoma.

Nikki has been through chemotherapy but unfortunately this has not been effective and has continued to grow.

Nikki is to undergo immunotherapy on a drug called Pembrolizumab.

Unfortunately, Medsafe and Pharmac have not approved this drug for ovarian cancer.

This is new for the treatment of ovarian cancer and has no phase 3 trial data, Nikki’s health insurance will not pay for the drug either.

This leaves Nikki and her family to fund the Pembrolizumab themselves at the cost of $76,500 for 10 treatments.

Nikki has been told that she is the first person in Wellington to receive this treatment. She thinks it is fantastic to have the opportunity to fight her cancer with this drug and also offer hope to others if it is successful. Nikki is willing to do whatever it takes to beat this cancer and has a lot to live for.

She has 2 beautiful children, William (10) and Evelyn (5) who she is determined to watch grow up. Nikki first received her cancer diagnosis in 2021 followed by 2 major operations and chemotherapy. She was hopeful that it was all gone but unfortunately, in November 2022 she received the news that her cancer has returned.

In December Nikki started a grueling round of chemotherapy. After 3 rounds she had a CT scan that showed the cancer was still growing. Nikki and her oncologist decided it was best to stop chemo and try the immunotherapy.
