Help Nikolas get to the 2019 Oceania Area Athletics Champs in Townsville (25 - 28 June 2019) - stepping stone to the Commonwealth Games!
Northland
Over the past two years, I have been making steady progress in my athletic career, and I am currently ranked #1 in the country for under 18 men’s Hammer, Discus and Shotput. I am also ranked #1 in Oceania for both Shotput and Discus, and I am ranked #5 in the world for discus and #8 in the world for shotput.
I am now having my progress recognised and in November last year (2018), I was selected to represent New Zealand at the Oceania Regional Athletics Championship event in Tahiti, where I placed first in all three events, set a new Oceania record for u18 men's shot put, and I was also named “Male Athlete of the Competition”, which was amazing.
I have now been selected to represent New Zealand again, this time at the 2019 Oceania Area Championship event in Townsville, Australia (25 - 28 June 2019).
I want to one day represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games in both Discus and Shotput, and attending these regional competitions is a great way for me to gain international experience, and it will also help me to become a better overall athlete.
How neat would it be if you saw me competing at the Commonwealth Games in a few years, and you were able to say that you helped get me there!
I am the mother of Nikolas, and I want to help him raise funds to attend international athletics competitions.
I am looking to raise $2,350 to help me pay for flights and the Oceania Athletics Association Fee.
If I raise more than this, any excess will be saved for future competitions and training gear.
Selected in Pathway to Podium programme 1 May 2019
We have just been advised that Nik has been selected to be a part of the Athletics NZ Pathway to Podium (P2P) programme in 2019, which is really great news!!
Pathway to Podium (P2P) targets athletes and their coaches who are 8 to 10 years from a podium performance at the highest level in their sport.
