Helping our son Nīkora access urgent surgery to restore his hearing and support his development.
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
We are fundraising to support our son Nīkora, who has been diagnosed with hearing loss in his left ear along with an ear condition that requires grommet surgery. This procedure is important to help improve his hearing and support his overall development.
Nīkora has been experiencing ongoing, severe ear infections, and we have been hospitalised several times due to their severity. Some of these infections have resulted in burst eardrums, further impacting his hearing and worsening his condition. These ongoing challenges are already affecting his speech and developmental progress.
While we have sought help through the public health system, we have been advised that the current wait time for surgery is approximately 3–5 years. Unfortunately, waiting this long could have a significant impact on Nīkora’s speech, as well as his physical and cognitive development during these crucial early years.
As parents, we feel this is time he simply cannot afford to lose. We are asking for any support, big or small, to help cover the costs of getting Nīkora the care he needs sooner. Your kindness will make a meaningful difference in his ability to hear, learn, and thrive.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and support our little boy.
I am Nīkoras Mother.
The funds will go toward private hospital costs, as well as the anaesthetist and surgeon fees for Nīkora’s surgery.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated and supported us so far — we truly appreciate every single contribution 💛
Because of your generosity, we’ve now been able to book in surgery for the 21st of May. This is such a big step forward for our boy, and we couldn’t have done it without you all.
Thank you again for the love, support, and kindness — it means more to our family than we can put into words.
