Support our young engineers as they strive to compete on the world stage at the Sea Perch International Aquabot Competition in USA
Nelson
We’re excited to share an incredible opportunity for a group of talented young engineers from Nelson Intermediate School.
The Nelson Intermediate Aquabot Team, proudly named “Placeholders,” has been invited to travel to Maryland, USA to compete in the Sea Perch Aquabot International Competition. This invitation follows their outstanding performance last year, where they won their Regional competition and placed 2nd at Nationals — an extraordinary achievement!
Aquabots (SeaPerch) is an underwater robotics and engineering program where students design, build, and compete with remotely operated underwater vehicles. It challenges students to apply science, technology, engineering, and maths skills to solve real-world marine engineering problems. Through teamwork, innovation, and perseverance, students develop practical engineering skills well beyond their years.
This year, four Year 9 boys (supported by 2 adults) will travel to Maryland to showcase their underwater engineering skills against the world’s best young engineers. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity — and we need your help to get them there.
Marco Sneddon, Hugo Hartley, Zack Voyce and Oliver Hume are committed to working hard towards this goal over the next few months.
Thank you for supporting our young innovators and future engineers. Your contribution truly makes a difference.
