Please help nurse Shona meet the costs of an urgent hip operation

For some time Shona has stoically endured extreme pain in her hip while waiting for a hip replacement operation. Her surgeon has advised that due to the severity of her hip condition a replacement needs to be done without delay. Due to the long waiting lists for orthopaedic surgery in the public health system, he has advised private surgery as the best option. Shona’s operation has been scheduled for Thursday 22nd February at St Georges Hospital, Christchurch. However, this will cost almost $30,000 dollars, a considerable sum for almost anyone to have readily available.

Shona has touched the lives of hundreds of families throughout New Zealand through devoting her life to nursing and using her insight into the healing effect of Anthroposophical Therapies, including Nursing Therapies for families traumatised by the Christchurch earthquakes and children with developmental challenges. For many years she has contributed significantly to the Anthroposophical Nurses Training in New Zealand and has provided much inspiration to her nursing colleagues. Additionally she has supported many people in the community during times of bereavement.

For her whole life Shona has given selflessly to others. Now it is clearly a time for her to receive. If each one of us could Give a Little this would help Shona afford a hip operation and enable her to continue her active and valuable life in the community, free of the pain she has quietly endured for so long.
