Help Orla get to Under-19 Junior World Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy

Hi, my name is Orla Fitzgerald and I am 18 years old and in my first year out of school (CGHS).

To be selected for the under-19 women's 8 is an amazing opportunity I've long hoped to have and the culmination of the time and energy it has taken to get here. Over the past few years, I have dedicated hundreds of hours to fulfilling my dream of representing New Zealand on the world stage. My rowing career through secondary school was not smooth sailing, filled with many ups and downs mentally as well as physically, so to come out with this opportunity feels very rewarding.

The build-up to the World Champs will be a lot of hard work but will no doubt also be a great opportunity to learn and further develop my rowing abilities and strengths! We will be commencing the campaign in Blenheim with the whole team for a training camp before moving up to Cambridge to train further before heading off to Italy where a positive result will hopefully be in sight!

Unfortunately, this opportunity comes at a cost - approximately $8000. As a young athlete, newly out of school, I do not currently have the funds to pay for this all on my own, hence my decision to make a go fund me page to help me get there!
