Help Dad get the treatment he needs
We are heartbroken to share that our beloved Dad, has been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal incurable cancer. They beleive it started in his esophogus but it is very advanced now and has spread all throughout his body, causing a whole lot of pain and sickness.
With his cancer spreading so rapidly, he needs proper pain relief and treatment urgently. Yet, his next appointment with the oncologist could take another four weeks in the public health system, time we simply don’t have. The doctors have strongly recommended we pursue private care so he can get the help he needs without delay.
Unfortunately, Dad hasn’t been able to work for some time, and the financial strain is heavy. We want him to be as comfortable as possible in the time he has left, but going private is costly, and we’re struggling to afford it. We know that times are tough for everyone, and just affording the basics like rent and groceries is a huge challenge, but any contribution would mean the world to us.
We’re asking for your awhi to give our Dad the chance to spend his remaining time with dignity, proper care, and as little pain as possible. Every little bit helps, and we are so incredibly grateful for any koha you can give.
Ngā mihi nui from the bottom of our hearts for your aroha and tautoko.

THANK YOU! 23 October 2024
Kia ora koutou,
We are incredibly moved by the generosity, love, and support you’ve all shown for our Dad. Thanks to your donations, he has been able to access the private care he desperately needed, and we can’t express how much it means to us.
Dad recently met with his private oncologist, who has created a treatment and pain management plan. The total cost for two rounds of chemotherapy and associated treatments is around $15,000. He was scheduled to begin chemotherapy this week, but due to the risk of the cancer reaching his spinal cord, he underwent radiation first. Chemotherapy will now start next week.
The plan is for Dad to complete these two rounds of private chemotherapy and, with your help, we hope he can then continue his treatment through the public system.
We want to emphasize how incredibly thankful Dad is for every single contribution. Without your support, he would still be waiting for care, facing unbearable pain. Your kindness has given him access to the treatment he needs without the agonizing wait, and he is deeply appreciative.
While this is an incredibly difficult time for our whānau, knowing that there are so many of you out there wrapping us in aroha and care has been a source of great comfort. Your generosity has not only given us hope but has also shown us the power of community during hardship.
Ngā mihi nui, from the bottom of our hearts, for your aroha, tautoko, and koha. We will continue to update you on Dad’s progress.
