Help us fight cancer the second time around. We lost mom to breast cancer before, now dad is fighting tongue cancer. We need your help.
International
Our father, Argie Hernandez, was diagnosed with stage 4 tongue cancer shortly after Christmas, and just a few days before turning 75. A sad and devastating news for our family who has dealt with cancer before. Even more sad is that he is in the Philippines and two of his children are here in NZ wanting and needing to go home to take turns to take care of him. He was immediately scheduled for head and neck surgery and is on his way to recovery, albeit some lung infection. He will need to regain strength in preparation for 3 sessions of chemotherapy and 7 weeks of radiation therapy which our family is hoping to raise funds for. Apart from these, he will also need speech therapy to help him get back on his feet and live a normal life again.
He has been in the hospital for almost two weeks now and our funds are running out. His twelve days of stay in the hospital has already incurred more than half a million (pesos) in hospital bills and doctor fees, and will continue to increase until he is released, hopefully in the next few days. Having had to dispose all our properties during mom’s fight with breast cancer before, our resources are completely drained.
Our dad, just like our mom, is a fighter. Please help him continue fighting.
To say that dad took good care or mom when she had breast cancer is an understatement. To be able to do even just half of what he did for mom is an honour for us, his children.
All funds from your generous donations would go towards his radiation therapy, chemotherapy, speech therapy, follow up medical check ups, ongoing medication and other related costs.
He Is Home 27 January 2018
By God's grace, our dad is finally home. Thank you everyone for your prayers.
Now it's time to regain strength and prepare for chemotherapy and radiation. We will need more prayers for this. I have learned that tongue cancer is one of the most painful cancer to treat.
Again, thank you all for your support. Our family is forever grateful. May God bless you a hundredfold.
