Help the Wellington United Diamonds shine on the National Stage!

Wellington

Our amazing Diamonds have this year qualified for their 4th Semi-Final of the Kate Sheppard Cup in 5 years! The last time they lined up in the National Knockout Cup Semi Final, they were facing the same opponent in Eastern Suburbs.

Back then, with a number of the team out through COVID and injury, and widely regarded as the ranked underdogs, the team in orange rallied to clinch a famous victory on a beautiful day at Newtown Park.

The Diamonds then went on to score a historic win in the Grand Final over Hamilton Wanderers, becoming the first team from the Capital Region to lift the Kate Sheppard Cup! It was a memorable team performance and one that added another amazing chapter to the rich history of our 130 year old club!

This year, with our home ground in Wellington being used as a FIFA Women's World Cup training venue, it was probably fitting that we were drawn away. However, the semi-final trip to Auckland is coming at a cost of over $8,000! The Diamonds players and wider Club have already been urgently fundraising, but the target is a big one to organise in such a short timeframe.

Let's show our support for Wellingtons only representation left in the Kate Sheppard Cup, through a welcome Koha and some encouraging words for the team!

Finals Time!!  9 September 2023

Wow, what an awesome few weeks!

The Diamonds won a thrilling semi-final against Eastern Suburbs to make the Kate Sheppard Cup Final; replicating their journey from their 2021 Cup Campaign!

The also finished the Women's Central League in second place; with both the best attacking a defensive record in the league! A tough mid-week game that followed the semi-final ultimately cost them the icing on the cake of what has been an incredible season.

The Diamonds also qualified for the Women's National League which kicks off at the end of September!

First things first though, finals time! Can our Diamonds replicate their history creating win of the 2021 final? If you aren't up in Auckland, tune in to Sky Sport Next to catch the action!!

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
