Help our whānau get back on the road

Kia ora all,

We are reaching out with a really humble heart to ask for support for our family during a tough and unexpected time.

This morning, our son was involved in a car accident in our second vehicle. We are so grateful he is safe that’s what matters most but the car has been written off and unfortunately wasn’t insured.

Our main family car has already been off the road for the past 8 months, needing a full engine replacement. It’s a rare engine that has been very difficult to source, and our insurance only covers theft, not mechanical issues, so we’ve had no support there.

We’ve been doing our best to get by with a loan car, but it’s not something we can rely on long-term.

We moved from Palmerston North to Hastings hoping for a fresh start, but our first year has been really tough on our whānau, with one thing after another hitting us financially.

Right now, our biggest need is a safe and reliable vehicle especially to get our son to and from school between Hastings and Napier, and to help our whānau with everyday life.

This hasn’t been easy for us to ask. We’re usually hardworking and independent, and we’re often the ones helping others in our community because that’s just who we are. But right now, we’re the ones needing help, and it’s taken a lot for us to reach out like this.
