Please help fund Kaia's double knee surgery
Waikato
Please help my precious girl, Kaia.
I never imagined myself being in a position to ask for help with money but I've just been told the worst case scenario for Kaia's situation. Kaia needs surgery on both of her knees for Bilateral Cruciate Disease. It's awful timing as I have resigned from my job, effective July 3rd and have limited savings to fund treatment. I'm not sure what else to do but ask for your generosity.
Kaia is a 5 year old Staffy x Pitbull who I rescued back in 2015 from an extremely abusive home. She was beaten by men, women and even children. Those who know her, know that she is timid, terrified but has the absolute sweetest nature. Once she knows you, she is literally the best dog you could ask for. She's been super active over the years which has led to the onset of her condition.
It originally started with a limp of one leg which I didn't think too much of. It has since progressed to both legs and after taking her to the vet to get x-rays, it has been confirmed by a specialist that she has the disease. It is pretty much the equivalent of humans tearing their ACL except for Kaia, it's on both legs and not completely torn. Because of her weight, the only treatment is to fix both knees surgically.
Surgery for one leg has been estimated at around $3200 so for two legs, it is looking more like between $5000-$6000.
Initial vet visit for x-rays/referral have already been $519 at CoroVets Whangamata and all further treatment will be done through them.
Kaia's surgery has not yet been locked in but I will update this page as soon as it is confirmed.
Any amount as low as $1.00 will make the world of difference to me.
Thank you so much, I can't put my gratitude into words.
