Paul is a rescue cat who needs emergency reconstructive surgery to fix his genitals
Te Atatu Peninsula, Auckland
I found Paul as a kitten on the side of the road after he was thrown out of a car window. His tail had been cut off, he was covered in cuts and fleas, and was very traumatised. He has anxiety and strong attachment issues from his rough start but is a super loving little guy. He's now 7 years old and causes constant chaos and I love him SO incredibly much!
Paul has baffled vets for years with his complete lack of penis. He's had constant urine issues and many panic trips to the emergency vets because a blocked bladder is very quickly fatal for cats. On Dec 23rd he was rushed into emergency surgery to place a catheter where they discovered that he does in fact have a penis! A Christmas miracle! But it's hidden inside under extra skin, so he will need urgent reconstructive specialist surgery to give him normal anatomy (and hopefully fix his issues forever).
Update 30/1/12: He has had his initial surgery to re-discover his penis which went well, but is struggling with recovery and potential infection and other issues.
If there is any excess raised that goes over what his actual final bills end up being (as the vets can only give me estimates), I will donate the excess to similar causes to help out other animals in need
Paul's vet bills, which are expected to reach $10,000+ (which is far more than I ever expected to pay for any penis)
Sad news 2 January 2023
Paul passed away in my arms earlier this morning. His kidneys were failing and the stress on his heart meant that we had no other choice. The vets had exhausted every possible option for treatment. He was put to sleep with his head over my shoulder like how we'd normally cuddle at home. He'll be cremated and I'll bring him back home soon. We are both so thankful for the support and love we've received over the past week. The vets at ARC were incredible and I'm so glad he was in their care while he was struggling. Thank you so much to everyone ♡
