Help Paul get reconstructive surgery to fix his genitals

  • Sad news

      2 January 2023

Paul passed away in my arms earlier this morning. His kidneys were failing and the stress on his heart meant that we had no other choice. The vets had exhausted every possible option for treatment. He was put to sleep with his head over my shoulder like how we'd normally cuddle at home. He'll be cremated and I'll bring him back home soon. We are both so thankful for the support and love we've received over the past week. The vets at ARC were incredible and I'm so glad he was in their care while he was struggling. Thank you so much to everyone ♡

Oh, Lisa. I'm so very very sorry to hear this. Paul was so lucky to have found a human like you - you really moved heaven and earth to help him. He knew it, for sure. And now he's not suffering anymore - the only thing that helps, I know. Sending you love.

  • Target update

I have increased the target to cover his care over the long weekend, as well as the potential surgery next week. Any excess raised that goes above what his actual bill ends up being will be 100% donated to similar causes to help other animals in need. Incredibly grateful to everyone who has shared and donated towards my little man ♡

Just spoke to his surgeon who said he is doing better than he was earlier today. He's out of the incubator and back into a normal bed which is great news! Fingers crossed he stays stable over the weekend and won't need the surgery after all

Just a thought at this really hard time for you and Paul - when my Sancho had blocked/failed kidneys a wee while back and wasn't eating/responding at the emergency vets, I have since wondered if staying with him overnight and encouraging him might have produced a different outcome. Are you possibly able to stay with your Paul overnight and let your voice and touch encourage him to hang in there?

All the best to you both,

      Barbara and furry Sylvie

The vet called at 3am not sure if Paul would make it through the night, but he's managed to pull through and is looking a little better this morning, but still very touch and go. We've decided to go with medical management over the weekend rather than the surgical route as he's just not stable enough to handle another surgery right now. He may still need the surgery after the weekend, which is estimated at $10-15k, but I'm hoping we can avoid this. The vets have told me he's a very sick little cat :( I really just want him to be well enough to come back home :(

Paul's current vet bill is $13,429, which is expected to increase by at least $3-4k over the weekend for treatment to keep him stable and hopefully improve.

  • Paul's not doing so well :(

Paul's penutial reconstruction surgery went well on Wednesday, however his recovery hasn't gone to plan. He's having trouble with his bladder and kidneys and the vets aren't confident on his prognosis. He's had to have his catheter put back in and is struggling with a few different issues right now. His vet bills are currently around $13,000, with at least a few more days needed in hospital. He may be needing another surgery to get everything sorted but needs to stabilise more before that can happen. Everyone please cross your fingers for Lil P
