Pōneke Ngeru Rescue is a foster-based rescue supporting cats from all walks of life. We're now on our new journey to secure a better future.
Wellington
As many of you know, Pōneke Ngeru Rescue is a foster-based rescue that began on Wellington’s south coast. For a long time, we’ve dreamed of having a physical space of our own.
While we’re not quite ready to open a full shelter, we’ve found the perfect next step, a true cat oasis. This space would allow us to run adoption days, host kitten cuddles, process intakes, and operate our rescue office. Most importantly, it would give our donors and supporters a place to visit and see the mahi they help make possible. To make this happen, we need support to cover one full year of rent. Securing this upfront would give us stability and allow us to focus our ongoing fundraising on vet bills and day-to-day rescue costs instead of worrying about rent.
Any remaining funds raised will go directly into making the space fit for purpose, including maintenance such as laying vinyl flooring, purchasing furniture, and stocking essential supplies for the cats. Our goal is to have the funds secured before moving in around the beginning of April. We truly believe this space will be a game changer for our rescue and for the wild, rehomed, and owned cats of Wellington.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, even $1, it all helps bring this vision to life. Thank you for supporting Pōneke Ngeru Rescue and the cats who rely on us every day.
